Printer alignment test

Download a 100 mm calibration sheet and correct printer shifts.

Prepare the test page

Measured correction

After printing, compare the crosshairs with their intended 20 mm distance from each paper edge. Enter the opposite of the printer's shift: if ink lands 2 mm right, use −2 mm horizontal correction.

Print and measure

  1. Use matching A4 or US Letter paper in the printer.
  2. In the print dialog, select Actual Size / 100%. Turn off Fit to Page or other scaling.
  3. Measure the 100 mm line with a physical ruler. If it is not 100 mm, correct the printer scaling before using label stock.
  4. Measure the crosshairs. They are designed 20 mm from each edge. Enter an opposite X/Y correction if the printed marks shift.

A browser preview cannot establish physical print accuracy. Printer feed, margins, and driver settings can still affect every sheet.

Worked example

If a print measures 100 mm along the ruler line but lands 2 mm to the right and 1 mm down, enter −2 mm horizontally and −1 mm vertically. The generator shifts each label in the opposite direction.

Common question

Can correction fix the wrong scale? No. X/Y correction moves the layout; it cannot change a line that prints too long or too short. Set Actual Size first.
